We liked it so much, we ate breakfast twice here while on our vacation. The staff was so helpful and the food was excellent.

Good food great surroundings. The only restaurant that I've ever seen Sunfish (Bluegills) on the menu and they were really good.

If you're in the area camping or just visiting the park, the Lodge is worth at least a look. The food is normally pretty good and can be interesting if your looking for a place to eat.

The food is good, a nice variety including Minnesota specials like walleye, wild rice hot dish, and bison. The best thing about it is the location--with its rustic north woods feel, it is the most scenic and historic dinner destination you can find in the area!

Good food in an idyllic setting at reasonable prices. The Douglas LodgeÒ€ℒs menu has a little something for everyone. The menu features Minnesotan fare including Walleye, Wild Rice Hot Dish, Tater Tot Hot Dish, and wild rice soup. The desserts are very good too. Waiting for a table with a lake view is worthwhile.

The burger, their version of a juicy lucy, was ok. I've had better. After waiting over 30 minutes to be seated, and another 40 minutes for the meal to arrive, we were pretty hungry. The staff was nice & friendly, they were obviously understaffed. Prices were a bit high for the quality of the food & overall experience.

Questions & Answers

Indeed it is. Bring a swimsuit, it's fun to walk around in the headwaters!

If you want to catch perch Lake Ojiwindib was awesome right off the dock. There is a point off the island on Lake itasca that proved worthy for a few bites as well. Never caught any walleyes here yet, but if you have a depth finder you'll do great.

All sorts of camp sites and cabins

Yes, unless it is a free day or you have a state park pass.

Yes, bring the leash.

Check the trail maps, it's well marked. The climb up the tower is pretty easy, provided you don't have issues with heights.

?? actually on the way there before you turn into the park if you look in the woods someone has placed one creeping behind a tree, it's fake but gave us laughs

Electric for sure.

Call ahead to reserve and dogs need to be leashed. May want to look at nearby La Salle Lake State Recreation area as an alternate camping spot. It's fairly new, nice campground, showers and swimming beach. Lake is pristine and very clear.
